Geriatrics

Older adults sometimes find themselves dealing with medical illness, physical limitations, or social loss not encountered earlier in life. Therefore, this age group is prone to depression, anxiety, and adjustment disorders, which can develop as a natural reaction to losses or limitations. We provide evaluations and treatment to improve quality of life.

Treatment

We help older adults deal with anxiety, depression, and adjustment issues that they may face, and we work with any victims of elder abuse or sufferers of trauma.

Dementia Evaluation

Dementia is a disturbance in memory functioning and one other areas of cognition, such as language. There are many forms of dementia, including: Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Dementia and Frontotemporal Dementia.

Our comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation will aid in the diagnosis and treatment of a loved one suffering from dementia. Persona Neurobehavior Group accepts Medicare and some Managed Care insurance, but we ask that you please check with your insurance.

Capacity and Undue Influence

As a person ages and their cognitive skills decline, or when a person becomes disabled, the question of their capacity to handle their own finances and affairs competently becomes an issue. Our comprehensive neuropsychological assessment will aid the court and the parties involved, in resolving the questions of capacity and undue influence, by clarifying whether the individual:

  • Has the mental competency to make a will;
  • Suffers from a mental disorder that has resulted in a significant impairment;
  • Is susceptible to undue influence by those around him/her; or
  • Needs a conservator.

These assessments are considered med-legal evaluations, and require a retainer fee.
